LED Lighting for TV & Studios

LED Lighting for TV & Studios

13th Aug 2015

Lighting used for TV, studio and or movies incorporate a few special features designed into the light fixture. The new trend in these lights are the implementation of LED’s (Light Emitting Diode) for better light control and efficiency - A few of the main features of LED TV - studio lighting is the refresh rate of the LED’s. - This has to be very fast so when used with TV, studio or film, the lights won’t give off a strobe effect because the refresh rate is much faster then the cameras being used to film the project. Using LED lighting that is not designed for TV or studio would most likely cause artifacts in the film / video or other strange effects not wanted

LED TV, studio lights use a mix warm white, cool white or amber LED’s to control the color temperature of the lighting, or in other words mix the concentration of power on the LED’s to control the color of whites from a softer (yellow / amber white) near a natural day light - to cooler blue hues like the color of the moon at night. Color LED lighting used for color mixing use Tri LED’s or other configurations into a single LED node, so (1) LED has many color combinations manufactured into the (1) LED node, this makes color mixing infinite and eliminates color shadow artifacts

Another advantage of LED lighting is that they can be controlled directly using DMX and do not require additional dimmers; the intensity of the LEDs being adjusted by circuitry on board the fixture. Because of their low power consumption several units can be daisy chained to one power supply.

Due to low heat output, LED studio / TV lights can be used in areas where the high amount of heat conventional stage fixtures put off would not be ideal. -
