One of ADJ’s most successful products over the past couple of years is undoubtedly the AV6 LED video panel. This revolutionary piece of equipment brought modular LED screen technology down to a lower price bracket opening it up to new markets including smaller production companies, nightclubs, churches and even mobile entertainers. Despite the success of the AV6, the ADJ product development team are always looking for ways to enhance our products and we are therefore proud to be able to introduce the AV6X, a new and improved version of ADJ’s flagship video product.

While retaining the same measurements, key features and solid build quality of the original AV6, the new AV6X takes the picture quality up a notch further. It features higher quality LEDs for better color consistency and a darker black background masking for higher contrast. This allows for even more vivid video playback, with darker blacks allowing colors to really stand out. While the original AV6 offered excellent image reproduction, the AV6X represents a noticeable improvement, making the product an even more enticing proposition for large-scale video playback for one-off events, touring shows and fixed installations.
As with its predecessor, the AV6X offers a 6mm (0.25”) pixel pitch and 3-in-1 RGB SMD2121 LEDs producing a brightness of 1200NITS. Each panel has a pixel density of 96 x 96, which is equivalent to 27,777 per square meter and equates to a recommended minimum viewing distance of 20ft. (6m). Each panel is divided down into four mini modular panels, which allows for easy serviceability. This means that in the unlikely event that a pixel fault should occur only one of the four mini modules needs to be replaced and returned for repair, not the whole panel.
Any number of AV6X panels can be linked together to provide continuous video displays of any size and shape. Quick locking connectors on the top edge and left side of each panel easily secure to the matching holes on the bottom and right side of adjacent panels, allowing multiple AV6Xs to be joined together quickly and easily. Mounting points at each corner of the panels then allow for permanent installation, while the separately-sold AV6RB1 Rigging Bar can be easily connected to the top row of panels on a screen to allow it to be hung from event rigging.
With a maximum power consumption of 300W per panel and an average consumption of 120W per panel, the AV6X is relatively economical to run when compared to other LED video systems. Each panel is fitted with a PowerCon input and output socket allowing the power supply for multiple panels to be linked together. Locking EtherCon input and output sockets are also provided for each panel, allowing the signal data to also daisy-chain across each panel that makes up a larger screen. The MCTRL-300 and VX4S Novastar Video Processors, sold separately, then allows a standard video input signal (DVI) to be scaled across any configuration of AVX6 panels (up to 140) and transmitted to them via Ethernet.
Each panel measures 22.75” x 22.75 (576 x 576mm) and is just 3” (75mm) deep. These compact measurements make the AV6X ideal both for permanent installations, with minimal space required behind the LED screen, and for touring applications, with multiple fixtures fitting into a single road case. The panels are also lightweight, each weighing 23lbs. (8.15Kg), which again is beneficial for mounting as well as storage and transportation.
ADJ’s dedicated AV6FC road case is ideal for storing and transporting AV6X systems used for touring and one-off events. The heavy-duty case is constructed from 9mm plywood and is fitted with steel ball corners along with locking swivel castors, making it ready to withstand the rigors of the road. Inside, the case is divided up into eight sections, each lined with foam and designed specifically to accommodate an AV6X (or AV6) panel.
The original ADJ AV6 set a new standard for low-cost, high-quality LED video panels and the new AV6X surpasses it. While maintaining the affordable price of the original, this new version provides improved image quality with better color consistency and higher contrast meaning that there has never been a better time for production companies, venues and mobile entertainers to invest into LED screen technology.
