The most popular lighting effects are “moving head lights” these lights are designed with a light source (LED or discharge) that is connected to a moving yoke motor system and can move the light source around in almost a 360 degree direction and point the light to almost anywhere you want very quickly. Moving head lighting is split up into a few different categories, Spots, Beams, Washes and a Hybrid type that is a mixture of a few of these different style elements in one light. Moving head spot lights will usually have a small beam angle and the light beam will spread out from the light source the further the light is away from the dance floor or where ever the lights are programmed to point the light. Moving head beam lights are designed to look like search lights with a narrow light bean that sweep the club all over the place and at very long distances and give you a very classy light effect that does not get old, this effect is clean and sophisticated as well as timeless and the more of these lights you have the better. Moving head wash lights display a wash effect of light that is wide and fat from the light source and washes everything with a soft even light wash. Hybrid moving head lights combine a few elements of the “Spot, Beam or Wash” into one light for a combination light that has a lot of features. All of these light can change colors, strobe, fade and a few offer “gobo’s” or patterns and textures that can have very cool visual effects. Nightclub lasers are specially designed lasers that are placed up over the crowd and shoot laser beams over their heads for awesome laser beam visual effects like “liquid sky, hot beams, laser beam textures and all sorts of cool visual laser beam effects. Most of these lasers today are RGB (full color) and will range in power for 300mw up to 5-6 Watts. Usually the more power you have the better, Nightclub lasers can be sound active or controlled via DMX or ILDA - ILDA is a special computer software that really unlocks the potential in creating laser beam effects, animations and or graphics depending on the lasers capabilities. Most nightclub lasers can do both graphics and aerial laser effects, however aerial laser do a better job of over the crowd effects and of course, graphics laser do a better job at logos, text, graphics and animations - just make sure you have a fog or HAZE machine or the laser beams will be very hard to see in midair and have that stunning aerial laser beam effects that make a laser light possible
